About Us

Health Professional Services Ltd (HPSL) is the company established by Tony Munro in 2003, as an investment advisory business to doctors, dentists, veterinary and specialist medical consultants. Tony has a unique perspective to the needs and demands of this professional group, as a consequence to his work with the Medical Assurance Society for nearly a decade. Whilst our largest investor group is represented by health professionals, our business is increasingly in demand from the broader community, as they too seek the tailored solutions we’re increasingly well-known for.

In a world more and more dominated by rules and regulation, professional advisers are looking for ways to leverage size and scale. While Munro Financial punches well above its weight, there is still efficiency that can be achieved through working closer in groups, and therefore in 2017 we co-located with other advisory groups and now work from the same offices as Milestone Financial (Canterbury), Peak Solutions and Paul Wilson & Associates.

Tony Munro is licensed by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) to provide a Discretionary Investment Management Service (DIMS), where the investor gives the adviser the authority to make decisions about buying and selling financial products on their behalf, within the boundaries of an agreed Investment Proposal and Client Agreement.

Our Team

Tony Munro | Financial Adviser

Tony's career in Financial Services began in 1985; and in 1991 he became a personal Financial Adviser and Investment Consultant. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM) and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies specialising in Personal Financial Planning through Waikato University. He continues to maintain his specialist knowledge through professional development both in NZ and abroad.

Tony started life in the deep south, having spent his primary school years in Invercargill. In 1977, the family moved to Wellington, where he spent his formative years. His career in Financial Services started in 1985, working for General Finance Ltd. He joined Westpac Financial Services in 1988, and his work as an Investment Consultant began in 1991, when Westpac appointed him to their Hamilton based Personal Investment Centre. In 1993, he moved to the Medical Assurance Society (MAS) as a Personal Financial Planner, and in 1995 MAS wanted these services made available to their South Island membership, which saw Tony move to Christchurch. In 2003, MAS endorsed Tony's move into private practice and Health Professional Services Ltd was formed, which later became known as Munro Financial. Tony continues to act predominantly for medical professionals, building bespoke investment portfolios.

Family is always a number one driver for Tony and with three daughters aged between 18 and 28, it’s never dull. In between times you can find him at his local tennis club, helping with their junior HotShots program and he's also currently the club's interim President.

Leeanne Munro | Practice Manager

Leeanne is Tony's wife, and comes from a legal background, having worked in that industry for 25 years as a Legal Executive. She came to our firm in 2008 as a back up to our Senior Administrator, and quickly assumed an indispensable role within the business.

Leeanne is currently in the office Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and loves to spend her spare time doing yoga and has recently enjoyed taking up running.

Melanie McGrath | Senior Administrator

Mel has been part of the practice since February 2012, having previously worked in the insurance industry since June 2008, for the ANZ. Prior to this she worked for several Legal & Accountancy firms in Christchurch and originally hails from Oamaru.

Mel is married with two grown daughters, and she can't say no to good food and wine. She is currently in the office Monday through Thursday, and enjoys her Fridays off gardening and taking care of her loved ones.

Hannah Harris | Senior Administrator

Hannah joined the team in June 2013 as a part time administrator. She came to us from the ANZ where she'd worked in a variety of roles over several years; predominantly as a Business Banking Manager in Christchurch.

She has two young children, and in between family and work life, she is also studying towards becoming a Financial Adviser. 

Hannah is currently in the office Wednesday through Friday.
